Week 27: Baby is the Size of a Head of Cauliflower

So I'm back ladies and gents and officially in my third trimester of my first pregnancy!!  Whew where has the time gone!!  Baby B will be here before we know it and the nesting phase of pregnancy is in full effect for me!  I've made a list of things around the house that Justin has to do and nag him daily about it (but I try not to)  We finally got a crib - haven't put it together yet.  It is one of the 4 pieces of furniture we've purchased for throughout the house in the past couple of weeks.  I'm ok with not putting it together yet, I feel better knowing it here and just one more of the big purchases knocked off the list. I'm so anti-clutter that the garage full of baby stuff and boxes etc is driving me nuts so I avoid it at all costs (along with the basement and it's closets!!) Instead I like to ummm..delegate ;) the tasks.

Other big news is we've settled on a name, but I'm not really announcing is or calling him by it until he is here.    I caved on Justin's name which everyone was surprised at, but hey, it grew on me and he will be perfect whatever he is called :)

Baby B is officially viable now and only has an increasing chance of survival as the days pass.  The feeling of being tired of being pregnant is starting to creep in which scares me because it's too early in my mind for that - we still have a ways to go!  I think perhaps it was the break in weather and the desire for a nice ice cold adult beverage that I'm forbidden to have these days.

Baby B is an extremely active little bugger (ps can't you tell pregnancy brain has totally set in with the all other the place topics).  He kicks and does somersaults all day and then like clockwork around 10:15-10:45 every night he rolls around in my belly jabbing and kicking!  The other night I had my first instance of alien baby where my whole stomach was just rolling.  It was so cool!!  He's still camera shy though and immediately stops when I try to capture him.  Hopefully soon he'll give into Mommy taking his picture :)

25 weeks pregnant

Crud I totally had something else to say when I started bragging about Baby B moving and I totally forget what I was going to say :(   Ohh...so I also did my version of glucose testing.  I couldn't drink the classic drink to test for gestational diabetes b/c I have a horrible reaction to sugar in mass quantities, so instead I had to get a glucometer and prick my finger 4 times a day to test my blood sugar.  Gotta say, the hardest part about that was that I had to eat my meal within 20 mins.  I'm such a grazer and a slow eater in general it made me pretty nauseous the whole week.  Proud to say all my numbers were well within normal range so hopefully when I go to the doctors this week I will be free from any other testing for the big GD!! :)

I had another ultrasound this week to check Baby B's growth and he is doing well and being an uncooperative as ever during an ultrasound!!  He usually curls up and in ball so they have to jostle him to get him to stretch out and measure.  No difference this time except he was visibly kicking and punching as they continued pushing down on my belly!! Ha! So cute, he had his little legs crossed at the ankles and it was easy to see it, made my heart melt!

Hmm...not much else going on here, just looking forward to all the big things coming up like Leah's wedding them baby shower, maternity photos etc :)

Week 23: Baby B is the size of a Papaya

Howdy friends!! So here we are the beginning of week 23. Baby B's face is pretty much fully formed now and if we could see inside my belly we'd pretty much be able to tell who he looks like. I'm really hoping he gets Justin's nose!!  Also he can hear now, pretty cool. While the sounds he hears are muffled he will  recognize both Justin and my voice at birth, that is totally awesome to me!!

Let's see this weekend I went to Babies 'R Us with my mom and Leah.  The crap in that store is RIDICULOUSLY over priced in my opinion!!  I started our registry, Justin is the typical man and says whatever you want babe! Ha!  I just did the "little" stuff which was all still pretty pricey!  Man the business of having a baby!  I had already intended to register primarily on Amazon, but that trip and really honing in on stuff totally convinced me.  Probably what I noticed most was a JJ Cole diaper bag I had seen on Amazon that I like (and purchased :/ ) was about $30 cheaper on Amazon than an Babies 'R Us!  I did buy some decals for wall - I'm so anti-blue when it comes to his nursery but we'll see as pretty much everything is some type of blue for boys!!

Of course I bought more clothes, got the cutest little outfit and if anyone knows Justin you'll know why!!

Totally awesome little outfit for Baby B - totally appropriate for his father's obsession!! :)

Ha!  Yes Justin is obsessed with our turtles!  I tried to keep it a surprise until Father's Day - but he snooped in my not so well hidden bag! He thought it was hilarious!  Very funny b/c every outfit I show him he asks if that's what he's coming home from the hospital in haha!!!

Yesterday I'm just about positive I saw my belly move from the outside.  I'm anxious for this as everyone is itching to feel him kick - I am very accustomed to it, and Justin has felt him a handful of times, but I want my family to feel him and he never seems to want to cooperate when they are around!!  It was ironic that I saw him yesterday b/c my app today told me to be on the lookout for him as I may begin to see him through my clothes.  Great to know Baby B is right on schedule with his development according to all my pregnancy apps :)  He's such an advanced lil guy already!!

Hmm not much else going here in our world, we just keep researching and buying little bits of things here and there....until next time, here is my wonderful work bathroom pic for 23 weeks I just took...

Week 21: Baby B is the Size of a Spaghetti Squash

Sooooooo the time came and went and we had our 20 week ultrasound at 21 weeks + 1 day which I’ve come to learn in the pregnancy world is shortened to 21+1 :)

And Baby B is a …………………………………….

Our Gender Reveal Photo :)

BOY!!!!!

I can’t believe I got Justin to go along with this annoucement!! He was such a good sport – I told him to please just let himself be goofy with me with this and he was totally on board!! It was hard to not text/call or FACEBOOK immediately that it was a boy but I was determined to use some of my 456,123,658,547 pins I am forever pinning on Pinterest!! So now we know HE is right on schedule – in the 50th percentile across the board and weighing in a 1lb at the ultrasound.
He wasn’t as cooperative at this ultrasound as he was at our 12 week one so the tech was pushing and moving trying him to cooperate and show us some good shots. There was a split moment in time I was nervous he wasn’t going to give us a “potty” shot (another pregnancy world term I’ve learned) so we could know he sex, but then he cooperated.

Literally the day after we found out he was a boy I started scouring for nursery themes/color. Meema informed me she stopped on Tues night to get him some clothes (hilarious) and I already stopped at my favorite Macy’s and got him a little Polo t-shirt – $4 can’t beat it for the Friends and Family sale at Macy’s!! I intend to hit it up again before the weekend is over <angel face> :) Anywho – off my tangent – I always knew we (I) wanted chevron for the nursery and I decided on gray and mint, but it is proving to be a difficult combination! The “it” green color seems to be lime right now and I’m not a huge fan. My back up is yellow and gray, but I might just stick with gray chevron and accent with the mint since I can find it as a solid just not the patterns I like. Every boy chevron thing seems to be with aqua and I’m just not really into it (this week at least).
I’ve noticed my hormones and moodiness are WAY up this week – pretty sure Justin’s noticed too, though he doesn’t much get how I can cry over the stupidest things. I told him to google pregnant women emotions and I’m sure he’ll find plenty of evidence of why I’m acting this way and other soon to be moms that are way worse than I am! I read on 1 of my groups about a full blown fight over pizza toppings. At least my ridiculousness is over a name (though Justin finds this to also be ludacrous). We haven’t agreed on a name yet, a discussion I purposely didn’t get into prior to knowing his sex because I have always been well aware we are going to test our abilities to compromise with coming up with a name. Justin’s suggestion has grown on me, but I think I’ll leave the topic alone for a little while, we have some time!! With the increased moodiness and emotion at the change of wind direction – I’ll pass on any intense convo’s for right now!!
Now the next big decision is whether or not we want to spend the money and get a 3D/4D (which Justin so cutely calls HD) ultrasound or not. He is convinced we should do it, as for me ehh I’m back and forth. On the one hand, I would totally love to see him again and I’m not sure how many more ultrasounds we’ll have, but on the other I’m kind of excited for the surprise of his pigmentation and who he is going to look like more. In the first sonogram, dead ringer for Justin’s nose, this one not so clear. I know he’ll be cute as a button so it doesn’t matter either way!!
The anticipation is growing and with each passing day, but want to next is growing. I’d like the picture in my head of the nursery to just appear at the snap of my fingers, but I’m sure as with most things, it is going to be a labor of love researching and finding the best deals etc.
Not much else for this week – though it is pretty impressive you guys got an update 2 weeks in a row! go me!

Week 20: Baby B is the Size of a Banana

So a couple more weeks of no blogging…in these weeks there have been some exciting developments!

I felt Poppy move!!! Around 18 weeks I felt the baby kick me!! I wan an unreal experience! I was so emotional I cried haha! It totally took me off guard and baby hasn’t disappointed me since. Poppy loves to swim about and poke me and make sure I know he or she is still making his/her presence known to Mommy!! Justin tries very hard to feel the baby too, he will talk to my belly in his funny cartoon voices and just being goofy Daddy and I absolutely love it!!

Belly is definitely popping out much more now. Today I actually felt the baby kick when I had my hand on my belly. I tried to have Justin feel, but he couldn’t. I can’t wait until he can feel the baby too. I’m seriously considering getting a better fetal doppler to listen to the baby. My mom got us one but I have a hard time finding it and the girls on my FB group have them and they are much less far along than me and find it easily. It would be exciting I think to listen at night, especially for Justin until he can feel the baby the way I do!!

20 Weeks

This week (Tuesday) we get to find if Poppy is a boy or a girl so I can finally start referring to baby as him or her and not him/her (I refuse to call the baby it – just too impersonal for me) I’m going to try my darnedest to keep my mouth shut until we can take some photos for a gender reveal photo. I would love to do a party but I don’t think I can wait that long. My sister is mad at me b/c I’m making her wait like everyone else to find out. I’m going to do the pictures right after the appointment to post them since my mom can’t keep her mouth shut, Justin can’t keep his shut, nor can I keep my mouth shut!! I toyed around with a couple of Pinterest ideas and I’m settled on one idea. Hopefully Justin won’t find it too cheesy and cooperate with me…I’ll make sure to bat my eyelashes!!

Got a couple of things for Baby this week used from my sister’s friend from nursing school. Total steal. We have a glider now and at least one high chair. Also got a pack and play for my mom’s house. I got Justin on board with the crib I liked best and hopefully he will be on board with the stroller too!! I’ve been teetering between just getting them now or registering for them. I’d prefer to have them here so I can begin to NEST in the nursery, but we’ll see.

Now onto the survey -

Week 17: Baby is the Size of a Sweet Potato

So I went for my 4 month appointment on Wednesday. I dragged Justin with me b/c I wanted him to meet the doctor and boo - it was the other doctor in the practice that saw me (ps I’m so glad my old OB gave me my doctor’s name I seemed to mesh with her so much better). Luckily for us my normal doctor was there since she seemed to be on call at the hospital (which is attached to my dr’s office) so he at least got to MEET her. Justin only really wants to go to appts if he’s going to see the baby. I guess I can agree with that, they are pretty boring when there is no ultrasound. How are you feeling? Any cramping? Any mood swings? How is your eating? Blah blah blah. The only highlight of them is hearing the baby’s heartbeat which was SOOO much easily to hear this time around than at my 3 month appt!! It is becoming more real the farther along I get!

The FB group that I’m active in has 2 moms-to-be delivering any day now and the other girl who announced she was pregnant around the same time just found out the sex of her baby – all those things are making me SUPER anxious to get to April 23rd to have that anatomy scan!! My mom texted me last night telling me she needed to know if Poppy was a boy or a girl like NOW – I totally feel her pain! I’m getting a big anxious that I haven’t started stock piling things for the baby. I totally feel like this is going to take forever to come! I’m excited, nervous, and anxious all at the same time!

One proactive thing I have done is to begin looking for a daycare. I have such mixed feelings about daycare! I love the stuff my nephew Avery got to learn and do by being around other kids but I’m just anxious and feeling a bit selfish like I want my baby all to myself ha! In a perfect world I could bring the baby with me to work until about 10 months to a year old and then I’d feel much more comfortable sending him or her to daycare – we shall see but I’m not going to hold my breathe! I am going to speak with my office about maybe a couple days working from home so that we only have to do part time daycare at least for a little while. I may be able to swing that more easily. I’ve also decided it is probably better to pick a daycare around my office so that the time isn’t so constrained. Justin isn’t the best with time so I don’t want to put that pressure on him, plus his schedule is way more eratic than mine – I LIVE for a routine!

Our Public Announcement of Baby B...isn't Baby cute :)
I wish someone would just find a daycare for me and tell me that it is great and they are clean and don’t let the babies sit in messy diapers or cry for long periods of time without being soothed. It’s weird the things you begin to worry about once you’re pregnant! I am going to continue to scour for reviews on daycares and ideally pick one in the next couple of weeks so I know what we’re looking at cost wise and so I know when the time comes I won’t be scurrying around. I am determined to take my time with this because I all too often make hasty decisions when it comes to this stuff and then end up second guessing myself! Oh well – no use in worrying about it too much!

Let’s see what else is going on? I’m starting to really get my baby belly now – I can’t wait until I really look pregnant and not just flabby around my stomach. I’m not a little person, never have been, but my stomach has never been something that protrudes out all like that, its that I’m just thick all around, but now having a stomach is messing with my psyche. Soon enough, I feel like I look more pregnant every day. I’m trying diligently to take my weekly pictures but quite frankly I suck at mirror pics and I don’t have the time to perfect them. My poor husband is no photographer so he isn’t much help! Haha. Here is my “16 week” picture – I’m actually more like 16 weeks 4 days but ehh – it works right??

Nothing much else is new. I’ve seen the surveys on a lot of pregnancy blogs so I guess I’ll start doing that too to help organize my thoughts a little more and make sure I’m hitting key points.

How far along? 17 weeks 4 days

Week 15: Baby is the Size of a Navel Orange

Wow 5 weeks of not posting. Things are changing. We had our first ultrasound 3 weeks ago (week 12) and oh man is the baby active. He/She was jumping all around when they were doing the ultrasound. Justin’s reaction was cute. Everyone thinks we’re having a boy but I’m making no assumptions until I see a little penis or lack there of in April! I go to the doctor’s again tomorrow for a high risk consult b/c of my psuedo tumor at 16. My doctor’s office just wants to be sure and if the high risk doctor clears me, I’ll be good to go back to my monthly visits. I don’t anticipate any issues, I feel fine for the most part. I’m more nauseous in my second trimester so far than I ever was in the first. I also was spotting a bit still which of course had my family up in arms, but my doctors just wanted me to watch it. It WAS primarily happening when Justin and I DTD, but now we’re in good shape and haven’t had issues in the past 2 weeks. I told my doctor, Leah told me she spotted her entire pregnancy so I’m not overly concerned, especially so far along and how light it is. I find it hilarious how the magnitude of things change as the story is passed around. My mom got a call from one of my Aunt’s about my bleeding asking is I was ok and when asked how she heard, my grandmother (who swears you can tell her anything b/c she won’t remember it) told my UNCLE who told his wife who called my mom about my bleeding – mind you I was ligghtly spotting. It happened the following week, I was having bowel issues (sorry TMI) and got a phone call saying my Aunt ME had heard I was throwing up all weekend…it doesn’t bother me at all, I actually find it amusing and feel quite loved that everyone cares so much about me and the baby and our well-being. It is actually quite heart-warming!

I am getting bigger and bigger every day. I think my behind and thighs have stopped growing and it’s primarily my belly now, I hope that it holds steady with my belly though with how my mom carried and how my sister carried, the possibility of this seems slim :/ Oh well, the baby is worth it and my husband still tells me I’m beautiful every day!

I guess I’ll sign off for now – no big purchases for the baby yet (just browsing) and no major decisions made yet…just settling into the 2nd trimester for the long haul :)
